Don’t Like Seeds..Try Navel Oranges

Even though there is not much unpredctability when thinking about fruits and vegetables.   They get a bad name for not having adequate flavor, and most people  unfortunately do not meet the essestial requirements of fruits and vegetables needful for long, healthy life. Something that is combines fruits and that level of unpredictability is the story behind the revolution of Florida’s navel oranges.

So,  there maybe nothing worth reporting  about navel oranges, but where they evolved from is somewhat miraculous.  Navel oranges were first grown in 1820 in Brazil, they sprouted in a tree from a single mutation that ended in seedless oranges that had what appeared to look like a human navel inside.  This different mutation caused the orange to grow a littler orange at the bottom that  resembled a  conjoined twin.

Considering the navel oranges have  basically no seeds, the only path farmers can take to produce additional ones is by a process that involves cutting and grafting.  This  carving and grafting process entered the sunshine land of sunny Florida in 1835 and the rest was essentially history.  The navel oranges grew in popularity rather quickly for their rare appearance and unique taste.  They have an unique appearance and they are also juicier inside and have a different, brighter color inside in the flesh of the orange than the others.

Florida navel oranges are the  most popular choice of avid juice drinkers entirely because they have more juice inside of them to making juicing less of a task and also to save money being able to use less oranges to make each cup of fresh juice.   Having more juice in them than the  others you will notice at grocery stores they are heavier to hold than the others which is one easy way to make the distinction of these.  These navel oranges are also widely picked for delicious recipes to make  in your kitchen.  Orange cakes, fruit salads, garnishing and using the rinds for zest on virtually any fish or fowl dish are all ordinarily made with fresh navel oranges.

The way history tells the story about Florida oranges is rather special, the nutritionary value they bring to the table is also very special.  All fruits and vegetables are good for the human body, but the navel oranges have ways to aide in curing major life health ailments.  Heart disease, diabetes, lowering cholesterol levels, production of iron and providing a healthier immunity to ward off all common colds are just a few examples of what this magical little fruit can alter.
