Dress Shirt-Wearing Lechons

 Considered as the national food or dish in the country, Philippines, the lechon is a kind of dish where the pig is roasted whole after it’s killed and stuffed with different kinds of spices. The pig’s body is inserted with a bamboo pole and roasted a few centimeters from a burning coal. 

One of the festivals held in the different provinces in the Philippines is the lechon Festival, which held on different days. This is a kind of festival where people give and value the importance of lechon as a part of the native’s culture. There are different sizes and faces of lechon wearing different attire. A huge parade featuring the different lechons in different customs become the highlight of the festival, while residents in the province or place celebrating the festival prepared food where they also serve the lechon as one of the dishes. 

A lot of locals and foreigners are amused with the event since they have seen roasted pigs clad in different fashions. The audience lined along the streets, cheering for the unique presentation of each float and contenders in the parade. There were lechons clad in different shades and colors and mens dress shirts that feature the different practices and culture in the country, like the election-themed float, clad in barong tagalong (the  Philippine’s national costume) and black custom dress shirts, Cory and Ninoy (The former and present presidents of the country respectively) lechon float, where lechons on the float wear yellow mens dress shirts

 There were other costumes depicting people at work, just like Lechons as injured firemen, volunteers and supporting firemen. Some were even dressed in racer suits and super hero costumes.   

 This Lechon Festival is a part of the Filipinos’ culture which evokes the people’s creativity and shows their innate personality of optimism notwithstanding all the hardships in life. This festival enlightens people up and makes both foreigner and local alike happy. Moreover, if makes a hungry stomach full, too.
