Despite the raging recession, Internet TV and TV on demand is progressively popular with the consumer.
Reports that over 65% of US consumers have adjusted their spending habits during the last quarter of 2008, a study has shown that paying for entertainment has declined in the usual events – feeding out, buying electronics and going to the movies and replaced with internet delivered TV on demand.
Because consumers have reduced spending on expensive outside entertainment like restaurants and movie trips, there is a greater demand for less expensive options such as stay at home entertainment.
Principal analyst of Parks, Kurt Scherf said:- For household services such as the Internet and pay TV, recessionary concerns have less move. This may excuse why broadcasters are jumping onto the online tv bandwagon as they know that is where the public are heading in these dark days.
In an unusual move – Intel is provision to bankrupt devices that will let packet applications run on your TV set showing you entropy from the Internet on your TV set. The so called widgets let viewers to chat with friends, find out more information on the show or movie they are backwash or purchase products advertised from online retail outlets.
Intel have combined with Yahoo to develop the ‘Widget Channel’, a hardware and software platform which will combine television and the Internet.
Broadband companies are attempting interactivity using their IPTV networks for guinea pig letting users do prefatorial computing machine stuff like upload and section photos across their IPTV network and letting users order movie and pizza at the same time. Wow.
The logical thinking behind this development has been that a TV set is much easier to use compared to a PC and users/PC phobics would prefer using their tv to entree the Internet. How? that in my persuasion will not work. Most under 40′s are pretty well versed in using a PC and because you can do all that intel plan on a PC using live internet TV, this experiment may end up pretty unsuccessful.
